Bergen Seafood Market place is a very popular tourist attraction in Bergen. It is located right at the center of the pier, pretty much right beside Bryggen. The seafood market offers fresh seafood for people to purchase, or customers an simply dine in and the market store can cook the food for you. In fact, most people visiting here would just dine in and have the grilled seafood.
We came to seafood market for our first meal at Bergen. There was a lot of people here. We walked around and there were just too many choices. Every store in the market offer gigantic crabs, lobsters, and shrimp. It was just so hard to make decisions. Every store here also has people who can speak different languages to communicate with tourists coming from every single corner in the world.
After looking around for 10 minutes, we decided to dine at the Seaside store. It offered a lot of meal combinations and we figured that we wanted to try as much different seafood as possible.
As we sat down, we were given the menu. There weren't that many items on the menu, but it was good enough for us to choose. We got a crab shell plater, grilled salmon, salmon soup, and grilled tiger prawns. This was not cheap, especially the crab shell plater.
The food actually took a while to make. We waited for another 15 minutes before the food was delivered to us. This was probably because they have to make the food from fresh crabs and shrimp.
The crab plater was just amazing from just looking at it. Huge crab legs and claws. The store was also kind enough to break the shell and the leg for us, so that we could just eat the meat in there early. How kind of them.
The tiger prawn was something that we would have to use our hand to tear off the shells. The tiger prawn was very good however. The prawn was huge and very juicy. We wanted to suck every single juicy coming out of the prawn.
The grill salmon was good too, but not as extraordinary compared to shrimp and crab. It was the usual grill salmon like many other restaurant. The salmon soup was just ordinary as well, but it did come with sour dough for dipping.
The dining at Seafood Market was a good experience, but rather expensive. We spent over NKR2000 for this meal. This was a lot of money. However, the food was very fresh and we did enjoy it.
