Anno is an extremely popular restaurant located at central Alesund, just right beside the bridge. The restaurant has a huge outdoor patio that lets customers to sit outside, enjoy wine, and feel the breeze of the wind. Anno also offers a wide variety of food, from pizza, paste, steak, and lamb shank. It is recommended as the must try restaurant when visiting Alesund.
Since it was our last day at Alesund, we definitely want to give this a try before we leave. We went to Anno at around 4:30PM and there was a lot of people sitting outside enjoying their wine. We waited at the entrance for several minutes before a waiter finally greeted us and led us to a table beside the window.
As we sat down and looking at the menu, we had a hard time to decide what to get. The wood fire pizza was a very interesting option but we really wanted to try the lamb shank and steak. Thus we still got the lamb shank and steak at the end. We really wanted to have more meat to get more proteins into our body.
The lamb shank was quite large, larger than what we expected. The meat on the lamb shank was cooked perfectly and detached itself from the bone very easily. The meat was quite tender and juicy and didn't have the smell of sheep. At the bottom of the lamb, it was mashed potato with gravy. Other than that, there was also steamed vegetable on the side of the plate but it didn't have much taste.
The steak was cooked a medium, and we could still see the beautiful pink color on the steak. On the side of the steak, there was mashed potato with gravy. On the other side, there was few small raw onions. We didn't like the raw onions as much as it was quite spicy.
Overall, we really enjoyed the dinner at Anno. We would really like to try the wood fire pizza when we have the chance next time. In addition, we would definitely sit outside at the patio when we visit again.
