The Pumpkin Patch is a large pumpkin farm located at Sauvie Island near Portland. It is just about 30 minutes of drive time North of Portland. The Pumpkin Patch not only offer a wide variety of pumpkins for people to pick, it also has a shed with farm animals for people to look at. It is also famous of its large corn maze. The Pumpkin Patch is open to public every October and attracts thousands of customers each year.
We got to The Pumpkin Patch around 10AM in the morning. There were already so many cars pouring in. Almost every single car heading towards Sauvie Island were going to The Pumpkin Patch. The Pumpkin Patch had an area for people to pick out their own pumpkins. Most pumpkins were the normal orange ones but there were some other odd colour ones like white and green.
The farm animal shed was the big red farm house right behind The Pumpkin Patch sign. There was a variety of animals such as sheep and lamas. There was also a pony outside of the shed. People lining up for the tractor train might have a chance to pet the pony if it comes close to you.
We then headed towards the corn maze. The corn maze cost $10 per person and kids under 5 was free. It was a bit more pricy than we expected. The corn maze however was very well maintained. First, the ground of the corn maze was padded with soft bark dust. It was very comfortable to walk on. Second, they placed plastic wrap around the wall of the corn to prevent people venture into the corn field and take short cut. This also made the path in the corn maze more obvious. The corn maze had 10 numbered stations showing people how far away the exit was. We did the corn maze within 1.5 hours since we were taking a little kid with us.
Afterwards, we went to get some fresh corn cobs for lunch. We got a regular one with butter and a Mexican style one. The regular corn with butter was very fresh. The corn was very sweet with a bit of buttery taste. The Mexican styled corn was spread with cheese and sour spice. It was quite good as well but we liked the plain taste a bit more.
The Pumpkin Farm was a great place to take kids to. It even had a huge grass field with haystack pyramid for kids to play. We would visit The Pumpkin Farm again in the future when kids are older and can enjoy the farm more!
