Hayakawa is a restaurant located within Manatei Hotel at Gora Hakone Japan. The restaurant is located on the third floor of the hotel and it serves breakfast and dinner for customers who lives at the hotel. The hotel nightly stay price already has the meal price included. The restaurant offers Japanese style and Western style breakfast. Dinner is always served as Japanese style.
In addition, depending on the type of room that you reserve and live in the hotel, the type of food that you get seem to vary. The breakfast time are 8AM, 8:30AM, and 9AM, The dinner time is only either 6PM or 7:30PM, since it takes longer to serve.
We stayed at Manatei Hotel for 2 nights, and thus tried both Japanese style and Western style breakfast. The restaurant will serve one of each if you stay for 2 nights. The Japanese style breakfast comes with grilled salmon, Tamago egg, pickled vegetables, miso soup, and rice. Western style breakfast comes with egg, bacon, bread, and some jams.
The dinner is a lot more interesting and different food is served for each night. The first night we had Kobe beef and sashimi as the main course. The Kobe beef was so tender and melt in the mouth. We wished that it gave more. The dessert came with fresh fruits and ice cream.
The dinner of the second night came with bream fish shabu shabu, which we really like. We get to cook the bream fish however we want. It also came with vegetables and mushrooms. The rice served is mixed with small fish, which we did not like too much. The second night's dinner also came with sashimi of different type of fish.
One thing to note is that the hotel provide yukata for its guests to wear, and guests can wear the yukata to the restaurant.
Overall, Hayakawa is a great restaurant to dine at. Its dinner portion is quite large and serves variety of food. It is just unfortunate that it only serves the guests who stays at Manatei Hotel. Hopefully one day it will open up to the public.
