Bath

Bath is a beautiful old town located West of 2 hours West of London. It is known and called as Bath because there were many bathing place here during the time of Roman rule. Roman loved taking bath in a large warm pool and built many here at Bath. Now Bath is a popular tourist attraction in United Kingdom.

We headed to Bath after visiting Stonehenge since Bath is only about 45 minutes of train ride from Salisbury. As we got out of Bath station, it was so crowded. There were so many people outside wearing graduation gown. Then we realized that there was a convocation ceremony here today. No wonder there were so many people.

Bath was indeed beautiful. There was a lot of ancient building structures that were still kept in good shape. There were also new building structures but built in the same styles as the old ones.

The Bath Abbey was one beautiful cathedral with amazing stain glass. Unfortunately, about half of the Bath Abbey was under renovation and we could not visit. The Bath Abbey was not particularly large either, so we did not stay there for long.

What we came here for was actually the Roman Baths. Roman Baths was still kept in a good shape so we went for a visit. The admission fee was quite expensive. It was 20 pounds per person.

The visit to Roman Baths was interesting. We got to see what it was like back then. There was a lot of sculptures from the Roman times. The entire building structure was also in the styles of Roman. We were able to walk all the way down to the bath pool. Currently the water appeared to be green, we were not sure whether it was green when Roman bath in there. The water was warm however. At Roman Baths, people could also try on Roman robes, which was interesting.

As we exited Roman Baths, one of the attraction was to taste the Roman Baths water. We didn't think it was a good idea. Really not sure why people would actually try it.

As we headed back to Bath station, we also came to the shopping street where many tourists were here purchasing stuff. We were surprised how touristy Bath has become.

Overall, Bath is a great place to visit. The only disappointment here was that it has became quite touristy and lost the feel of a small town.
